I would have to say that one of our favorite wedding gifts is our bread machine. It has gotten so much use, and we are just realizing all that we can do with it. Which leads me to this week's Friday's Favorites.
We absolutely love making homemade pizza - it is pretty much our Friday go-to meal when we are home. From the homemade dough using our bread machine, to choosing our favorite toppings - it can't be beat! Lucky for you, I am going to share the dough recipe that we have found to be the best (which just happens to be the one that came with our bread machine).
Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients (for a 1 1/2-pound dough)
- 1 cup water, room temperature
- 3/4 teaspoon honey
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 2/3 cups bread flour*
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour*
- 1 3/4 teaspoons yeast, active dry, instant or bread machine
* You can use all bread flour instead of using part whole wheat flour
Note: We use all bread flour instead of using part whole wheat flour, and we also use active dry yeast
Directions
- Place ingredients, in order listed, in the bread pan fitted with the kneading paddle and secure pan in the bread maker.
- Press the button to select the Dough program.
- Press start to mix, knead and rise.
- After the dough program has ended (ours takes 1.5 hours), use a rolling pin to roll your dough out. (Preheat oven to 375 degrees)
- Place in your pizza pan and roll the edges for the crust.
- Poke the dough with a fork and place in the oven for 4 minutes.
- Remove from oven, spread your sauce & add whatever toppings you desire.
- Return to oven for approximately 15 minutes (more or less depending on your oven).
- Enjoy!
Our favorite toppings are italian sausage and pineapple, what are your favorite toppings?

I've been thinking about buying a bread machine, but I can't decide if it is worth it or not. We love making homemade pizza too! So maybe it would be nice to have one!
