Happy St. Patrick's Day! This year we attempted making corned beef and cabbage - and it was a huge success! E and I tried one of the recipes I posted last week (here). You can find the slow cooker recipe at Family Fresh Meals. Here's how ours turned out:
First, you added the onion wedges and crushed garlic to your crockpot.
Next, you placed the corned beef on top of the onion and garlic.
Then you add to water, beer, sugar and vinegar to the crockpot, pouring it over the beef. Sprinkle the seasoning from the packet that came with the beef over the top of the beef. Allow this to cook on low for four hours.
After four hours, add the carrots and potatoes. Continue cooking on low for another three hours.
After three hours (seven hours into the cooking process) add the cabbage wedges. Allow this to cook on low for one hour.
Slice up the beef and enjoy!
One suggestion I have to add is to place a small bowl of vinegar on your table so that you can add more if desired.
