Book Review - "Jennifer: An O'Malley Love Story" by Dee Henderson

I received a complimentary copy of “Jennifer: An O'Malley Love Story” by Dee Henderson in exchange for this honest review by participating in the Bethany House Publishers review program. Opinions are my own.

A Love Story

Jennifer O'Malley, a pediatric physician who has a passion for her young patients and is the youngest of seven.  Tom Peterson, a skilled surgeon.  In this prequel to the O'Malley series, we are given a glimpse into the lives of these two people as they deal with the joys and struggles of their professions, and how the relationship between the two deepens.  As Jennifer deals with the loss of a long-time patient, Tom steps in to help support her in both her personal and professional life.  He also begins to share the most important part of his life with her, his relationship with Christ, as he pursues her.  As Jennifer begins to fall in love with Tom and begins moving forward in their relationship, and also begins to pursue a relationship with Christ, she finds that she is about to be tested with health issues of her own.  This story ends leading into the first book of the O'Malley series.

I was very excited to be able to receive a copy of this novella, having read some of Dee Henderson's previous books, though none of the O'Malley series.  Though this love story was a little bit slow at times, overall, I liked reading this book because of the way in which many common questions about God were brought up and answered.  I would definitely recommend this book if you have read the series already because you are able to get a much deeper connection with a single character.  Having not read the series myself, I now cannot wait to start reading this series.
