All Things Hidden takes you back to the 1930s during the time of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's mission of the Matanuska Colonization in the beautiful, yet isolated, Alaskan country.

Being the only doctor in the area, Harold Hillerman and his daughter Gwyn, a nurse, take charge in preparing a medical clinic for all the families chosen to partake in this new journey.  In need of help, Harold contacts a young doctor from Chicago whom he had mentored years prior.  Dr. Jeremiah Vaughn, in need of a change after a broken engagement, gladly accepts - with the big secret that he had just been stripped of his medical license.

Follow along as the Hillerman's and Dr. Vaughn help as the new community struggles to rebuild their lives, build new homes, and learn to grow their own food before the long, harsh winter comes.  Join them as lessons are learned and hardships are overcome, as fears are addressed and hearts are transformed.  This is a story of new beginnings, overcoming life's difficulties, perseverance, hope, and love.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novel.  Though it started very slow, and ended very quickly with lots of action, it left me wanting more as I fell in love with the characters and story lines.  Most of the characters were well developed, except for Clarence, the book villain.  I felt as if his back story needed to be told in a little more detail instead of just being mentioned a few brief times.  The overall message of this story is one of hope and trusting in God in all situations.  A message we all need to be reminded of at times.  If this were to become a series, I would definitely be picking up the next book!
