13 Favorite Baby Items

My daughter will be turning 6 months old in about a week. I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by already! She's busy rolling around and scooting backwards, hopefully forward soon! I'm thinking the full-out crawl will be happening soon. She's quite the determined little one!

With the 6-month milestone coming quickly, I thought I would share a few of my favorite and most used items to date. I definitely couldn't imagine not having any of these items to make my day go a little more smoothly - as smoothly as it can with an infant and puppy in the house! If any new mom were to ask me what to get to prepare for a new baby, these would all be on the list!

I can't help but sing praises for the Britax brand - I just love it that much! Both the stroller and car seat are super light and easy to get around with. The car seat just clicks right into the stroller, making it the perfect travel system, and baby A loves to ride in the stroller without the car seat also. I love how easy it is to fold up the stroller too - just the push of one button, and then you pull up on the handle, and it's ready to store away in the car! One thing I would recommend - purchase the cup holder that attaches to the stroller. I'm often looking for a spot to place my drink as we stroll around downtown.

2. Aden + Anais Classic Muslin Swaddle Blanket

Love these! When we have baby #2, God willing, I will definitely be picking up another set of these. They are so soft and lightweight! I always make sure I have one of these on hand. You can use it as a swaddle, blanket, car seat cover, nursing cover, the list goes on! I personally use them as a nursing cover the majority of the time, but they are great for covering the little one too. They were great to use in the summer because of how lightweight they are, and now that it is winter, I just fold it once, and it keeps baby A nice and toasty.

3. ERGO Baby Carrier Bundle of Joy - Original Galaxy Grey with Galaxy Grey Insert

Both my husband and I are a big fan of this baby carrier. I really loved how snug baby A fit in it with the infant insert, I never worried about a lack of support for her. And now that she has grown out of the infant insert, she still fits comfortably in the carrier. I love that I can wear baby A and feel like I'm not wearing her at all! Definitely watch the videos on how to use the carrier the three different ways though for the best comfort for both you and your child. The only negative I have with this carrier is that it doesn't allow for us to wear baby A facing outward. But other than that, I have no complaints!

4. 4Moms mamaRoo Plush Infant Seat & 4moms mamaRoo Bouncer Insert

This was one of those baby items that we fell in love with when we went to register and decided it was a must-have for us. We don't have the largest home, so when registering, we were looking for items that had a small footprint and could take the place of multiple items. Instead of a bouncer and a swing, both large items, we were able to use just the mamaRoo - and baby A loves it! The infant insert is a must, in my opinion - it gave baby A the support she needed until she was big enough. An added bonus - you can plug your iPhone or iPod right into it and play your favorite tunes, or can use the sound machine option as your baby moves to one of the five motion options.

5. Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether

My mom just recently picked this up for baby A, and it's never far from her! She loves chewing on the head and the legs, and I've even caught her with the butt in her mouth too! It's such a great thing to toss in the diaper bag and always have on hand while on the go. I can do all my grocery shopping as she is occupied with this teether toy! Now it's just a matter of making sure the puppy doesn't get it...

6. OXO Tot Sprout Chair

We just used this chair for the first time recently and am so happy with it! Baby A still needs a little support when in the sitting position, so the 5-point harness is perfect for her. The tray is easy to remove and reattach, and it's super easy to clean too. The best part - this chair grows with your child! You can remove the harness and turn this seat into a chair that can be used until your child is 5 years old. This also fits perfect in our small kitchen!

7. JJ Cole Mode Diaper Tote Bag

This bag goes with me everywhere! I really love the mixed leaf pattern - it was a pattern my husband said he would carry if needed. A win in my book! It has plenty of pockets to hold everything you need. One of my favorite features - it comes with clips that attach to your stroller so you can hook the bag right onto it and not have to carry it around!

8. Baby Einstein Play Gym - Reef

This is one of baby A's favorite toys to play with. She loves rolling around under this and playing with all the toys that hang down. It was so fun to watch as she learned that she could hit and kick the turtle to make the music go! I love that I can place her on the mat and it occupies her long enough that I can sneak in a quick shower while she is awake.

9. Angelcare Bath Support

I know there are a ton of more high-end bath tubs out there for the little one, but this one works perfectly for baby A. It gives her plenty of support and allows for water to envelop her through the mesh. I loved using this tub especially when she was a newborn and even still now as she is bigger.

10. Belham Living Upholstered Rocking Chair

Some might say this isn't technically a baby item, but I would have to say otherwise. I searched high and low for an upholstered rocking chair, and came across an amazing deal on this one that was actually in our small price range. I love that we'll be able to use this in a room other than a nursery when our baby days are over. It is super comfortable and soft, and a great size for our small nursery. It's one of the only things I look forward to when it comes to 3 AM feeds! One negative - it doesn't rock the greatest on carpet - but that's not a big deal-breaker in my book.

11. Carter's Microfleece Sleep Bag

We don't go a day without using one of these. Baby A was not a fan of the swaddles - even as a newborn! We tried one of these sleep bags and never turned back. I even just made one recently because she has outgrown the one we've been using since she was born. It keeps her warm enough at night so we don't have to worry about using a blanket.

12. V-Tech Communications Safe and Sound Pan and Tilt Full Color Video Baby Monitor

This was one of those items that we couldn't wait to use! I love that I can take a peek at sleeping baby A without even taking a step into her room. I would definitely recommend a video monitor if it's in your budget. We brought this on vacation when baby A was a newborn and slept a ton still and were able to enjoy time outside while still keeping an eye and ear on her. Negative - we've had trouble mounting this in our small nursery and still have a good view, but it looks like there is a newer model out there that takes care of the problem we've been having.

13. Graco Pack 'n Play Playard with Cuddle Cove Rocking Seat

This was a staple item in our bedroom until we moved baby A into her crib in the nursery. I loved using the cuddle cove rocking seat for her to sleep in until she outgrew it, and then still used the raised bassinet until we moved her to her crib. This travelled to both Arkansas and New York with us during the first two months of baby A's life, and was so quick and easy to set up. Now that she is older and becoming more mobile, I'll be pulling this out occasionally if I need her to be in one place! Negative - the changing station didn't have the best support on the inner edge, so we didn't really use it. I think they've since improved it in newer models.

These are all items we'll definitely be using for baby A until she outgrows them, and as we continue to grow our family. I was not compensated for mentioning any of these items - I just love them so much I wanted to share them all with you!

We'll be looking at walkers next - any recommendations?  And what are some of your favorite items? Share in the comments below!
