I am so excited to finally share some pictures of our first home we purchased back in October! It has been such a whirlwind, but we absolutely LOVE being homeowners (minus all the snow removal my husband has had to do this winter!). Sorry for the quality of the pictures, but they were taken quickly before all of our furniture was moved in :).
Some projects that are in progress/completed right now:
- Replacing all the carpet in the bedrooms (completed!)
- Removing wallpaper in all the rooms (almost done!)
- Replacing all other carpet with hardwood floors (floors purchased, prepping to install)
- Painting (Completed: master bedroom, hallway, front entrance, family room, office, kitchen; Still needed: two bedrooms, bathrooms, mudroom, laundry room)
- Paint all trim white (almost done!)
- Replace kitchen appliances (range replace, fridge being delivered end of this month; microwave and dishwasher will be replaced later)
- Replace washer/dryer (completed!)
- Replace light fixtures
- Tile mudroom area and laundry room
- Re-tile both bathrooms and install new vanities (first vanity purchased!)
I think that is what is on our radar right now - lots going on right now! As you will see below, these are definitely Before pictures. And the previous owners were kind enough to leave many of their window treatments, bathroom decorations, and decorations throughout the remainder of the house - those have all been replaced too! I can't wait to share the AFTER pictures with you all!

I hope you enjoyed this first peek at our New Home! I cannot wait to share the AFTER pictures with you as we begin to finish some of our current projects!
What are some money-saving tips you have for a first-time homeowner updating a home? Please share below!
New homes are so much fun! I love it : ).
Trả lờiXóaCongratulations. You have made a lot of changes. They sure are hard work, aren't they?
Thank you! Yes, lots of changes going on all at once - definitely hard work, but I can't wait for the end result!
XóaLooks like a beautiful home! Have fun and congratulations! #SITSBlogging
Trả lờiXóaThank you so much - thanks for stopping by!
XóaVery nice! Do you know what you want to do to it yet? My tips for decorating are to do one room at a time, starting with the room you spend the most time in. If you just do a little to each room, none of it will feel "done." But when you complete one room, then you feel great about it and you are ready to tackle the next!
Trả lờiXóaRight now I'm in the 'nothing feeling done' mode - We are working to get our hardwood floors down, but wanted to paint beforehand, which has also led to a couple of other little projects :) BUT, I see an end in sight! Floors are almost ready to be down :) Thanks for stopping by!
XóaThe home looks like it has great bones! Love the wood finishes. Can't wait to see what it looks like all completed.
Trả lờiXóaOne of the reasons why we purchased the house was because we saw how good the bones were, and the potential that the house held. We are loving it and can't wait to get through all our projects! Thanks for stopping by :)
XóaA very lovely space. I bet you will do wonderful things with it. How exciting!!
Trả lờiXóaI have so many ideas - I think my husband is hoping no more pop up! But we are very excited with our project list :) Thanks for stopping by!
XóaMy biggest tip - take your time before making big changes. Curtains and paint are easy changes that can be fixed if you're not happy. It's not easy to put a wall back if you change your mind.
Trả lờiXóaWe definitely have thought a lot about the changes we are in the process of making - a lot is paint :) Thanks for the tip and for stopping by!
XóaSo fun! I can't wait to see the after pics.
Trả lờiXóaThank you!! Can't wait to slowly do the reveal!
XóaYou've a beautiful home and I can't wait to see the 'after' photos! DIY is rewarding but at times a lot of work. Enjoy!!
Trả lờiXóaCathi
Thank you! DIY has caused the time table to be a little longer, life being busy and such :) But so rewarding knowing that we are making the house our home.
XóaCan't wait to see the after!! Enjoy the process. Stopping by from SITS!
Trả lờiXóaWhat a fun project you have there!! My tip? Paint. Just paint everything. Paint in itself will make such a HUGE difference.
Trả lờiXóaIt's so fun to start in a new home. I know you'll enjoy getting everything decorated and looking just perfect!
Trả lờiXóathis is awesome! I can't wait to see the house transformed! thanks for sharing :)
Trả lờiXóaWow! Congrats on your new house! It's an exciting time, for sure. Sounds like you have lots of projects ahead of you. I LOVE to work on our house, esp trying to do it "on the cheap" by re-using, re-purposing or renewing older items. Good luck with everything-can't wait to see the pics!
Trả lờiXóaIt's amazing all the things you've already checked off your list since October! I think the house is adorable now so I can't wait to see the after pics!
Trả lờiXóaI can't wait to see your after photos. I'm a Realtor by trade and I love when clients have vision in a home they can create!
Trả lờiXóaStopping by from the SITS Comment Fest.
Good luck on creating the after pictures! :)
Trả lờiXóaThat is so exciting for you to decorate your new home! I am moving into a new apartment and for the first time I wont have any roommates so I can't wait to decorate the place all on my own!! Can't wait to see your projects and after pictures!
Trả lờiXóaWhat a fun blank canvas! Enjoy every minute of creating your dream home :)
Trả lờiXóaCongrats on the new home!! It looks very spacious! Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with the place!
Trả lờiXóaThe French doors on the family room/office are what we want for the front room.
Trả lờiXóaCan't wait to see the transformation! <3 www.sweetanddownlow.com #SITSblogging
Trả lờiXóaWow, sounds like you have got a ton done already - great job! I'm sure the afters are going to look amazing.
Trả lờiXóaWow! Your home is beautiful. Can't wait to see the 'after'. I have to change my carpets too.
Trả lờiXóaNow I'm excited for the After pictures!! We are closing on our first home right now, and I've got all the rooms renovated in my head, lol! #SITSblogging
Trả lờiXóaThank you and Congrats to you!! Have fun, but also take your time!
XóaWe moved in to a house decorated in a similar 70s-80s style about a year ago and have slowly been making changes as we can fit it in to the budget. My advice is to work through a list of one project at a time and budget for each one. Paint is the cheapest change and has the biggest impact. We won't be making any big structural changes because it wouldn't be a sound investment. Good luck and have fun!
Trả lờiXóaThanks for the tips! The one thing we have made sure to do is to make sure that every project is paid for - not running up credit :) That is SO important when re-modeling. The only structural change we had to make was to move one small wall a little so that we can fit our new fridge :) So excited for it to finally be delivered!
